PolyU Tourist Satisfaction Index of 2013: An Overview
The PolyU Tourist Satisfaction Index for 2013 reaches 75.96 out of the total score of 100. This figure shows an increase than last year's result demonstrating by far the highest tourist satisfaction index since 2009. The index score generally reflects the increased satisfaction level of tourists during their visits in Hong Kong. By looking at different source markets, tourists from Western markets report increased satisfaction index scores comparing with the scores from last year; and the same applies to Mainland China, and Taiwan and Macau markets. However, it has brought to attention that the indices for South and Southeast Asia (76.48), and Japan and Korea (67.59) markets are decreased comparing with the scores from last year. All service sectors have better excelled in service performance according to the increased satisfaction indices. In particular, the attraction sector has its index score raised by 3.78 points than the previous year. These uplifting results illustrate improved service performance which exceed the expectations of the tourists.
